Minecraft v1.7.9 for Linux - Using TeamExtreme Launcher [Unofficial Release]
Tested on OpenSuse and Fedora. - Should work on any linux distro, the only requirement is that you have java installed.

According to Minecraft's Official site Oracle JVM is preferred over openJDK, please check your distro's knowledge base to known more about how to change to Oracle JVM (if you aren't already running it).

No installation needed, just follow this instructions:
1 - Copy the downloaded folder to you home folder.
2 - You will find "Minecraft.desktop" inside the folder, this is the shortcut from which you can start the game, copy it to your desktop. (you can freely rename this shortcut to whatever you want)
3 - RENAME the "minecraft" folder to ".minecraft", this will make the folder hidden which is the default.

ENJOY, COMMENT AND SEED!

Using Linux Mint 13 x64 - I follow the instructions, and am requested to mark the application as trusted, which I don't know how to do. Instructions would be nice, as Google failed to assist me.

Just type:
sudo chmod +x file.jar
in your terminal. (where "file.jar" enter the name of the file, and make sure you're in the same directory as the file)

or Right Click the file and go to:
/Properties/Permissions
and Check the "is executable" checkbox...
Great torrent worked for me(on Kubuntu 14.04 amd64), except of the .desktop shortcut, i had to write mine...

#!/usr/bin/env xdg-open
[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=Minecraft
Comment=Minecraft Adventure Game.
Exec=java -jar /home/outcast/Other/minecraft/launcher.jar
Icon=/home/outcast/Other/minecraft/icon2.png
Terminal=false
Categories=Game;ActionGame;AdventureGame;RolePlaying;
thanks artikeskimo for the torrent I will try it out and report back :)
Thanks, works great under RHEL7.
Hi ! Thanks for your torrent ! But I've a problem with the shortcut file.

I get every time a "Error by lauching the application." message. I've already tried by modifying the file (I finally got the right icon for the shortcut), with the OutCast's text too, or by putting the folder in different places. I made it an executable file. It never worked.

Google can't give me any advice. Could someone help me please ?
Great torrent. Thanx!
Just sits at 0% for a few seconds before crashing at launcher update. Running Mint 17.2 64 bit.
Forgot to update Java, it works fine. Thank you.
OutCast13, thanks man, make my own shortcut works just fine :)
