Billy Connolly's Big Send Off 


In the two-part documentary, the comedian goes on a personal and enlightening journey to look at attitudes towards death and dying.
He also addresses his own feelings and beliefs about what happens in the end as he explores the business of death, his personal response to it and how he would like to be remembered.
The programme includes poignant moments but Billy always leans on humour.
In the first episode, he goes to a funeral convention in Austin, a drive-through funeral parlour in Los Angeles and a voodoo ceremony in New Orleans.
He also talks to his friend Eric Idle about his song Always Look on the Bright Side of Life being a big funeral hit.
Billy talks to close friend Eric about the bittersweet humour that can be found in death and they joke about Billy’s plans for an unconventional gravestone. Eric also admits his own interest in death, confessing to Billy that he spent over three years trying to write a Broadway musical about it. The pair also talk about plans for their own funerals.
Eric said: "I’m paying for fireworks for mine, because I know they are very popular which means that you have to have an evening gig."
Billy added: "I’m paying for drugs for mine, because I’ve heard they’re very popular too!"
The pair discuss what song Eric will have played at his own memorial since his song Always Look on The Bright Side of Life is one of the most requested at funerals. Eric concedes it would have to be that song and the pair launch into a unique rendition together.
