Rockpalast, Grugahalle Essen, Germany 22-04-1979 It's Johnny Winter at his best. Johnny wanted to play the blues, the audience wanted rock - the result: More than two hours of stunning blues and rock. Beside there is one of the finest drum solos ever seen and heard - and some really funny scenes with Patty Smith, who was the pre-act. Patty admired Johnny - so she tried to start some jamming. But Johnny ignored her (timecode 00:55:50), maybe because he is very shortsighted and didn't see her, maybe because he was completely fixed on his performance. Later on Patty tried to participate with her clarinet (01:18:20) - that's the strange sounds during the drum solo.
