======= With its stunning camerawork and striking compositions, The Passion of Joan of Arc convinced the world that movies could be art. Renée Falconetti gives one of the greatest performances ever recorded on film, as the young maiden who died for God and France. Considered lost until 1981 when the original cut was found hiding in a Janitor's closet in a Norwegian mental institute. ======= http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0019254/ http://eurekavideo.co.uk/moc/catalogue/the-passion-of-joan-of-arc/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_passion_of_joan_of_arc Genre : Biography, Silent, Drama, History Director : Carl Theodor Dreyer Starring : Maria Falconetti, Eugene Silvain, André Berley ======= Realized Mysticism in The Passion of Joan of Arc, by Carl Theodor Dreyer : http://www.criterion.com/current/posts/69-realized-mysticism-in-the-passion-of-joan-of-arc ======= Encoded from the Eureka blu-ray release, 20 fps version. Thanks. Surprised not to be able to find at least french subs anywhere. Det er tross alt en fransk film, ikke dansk :)
It is indeed French, but afaik this transfer is sourced from a copy sent to a Norwegian Doctor. Hence the Danish intertitles.
I imagine the other reason there aren't currently any French subs is that the Criterion DVD comes with French intertitles. As such the need for them was lessened until this 'Danish' transfer sprung up.
Unfortunately Eureka, like Criterion, don't seem to care too much for anyone but their English speaking customers.
I would offer to create some, but my French is horrible.

Meh, that said, I'm transposing Criterion's French intertitles to the English timings.
Give me 24 hours.
Give me 24 hours.
It's nice of you. I come back later here. Thanks for the information as well.

Try these :
http://subscene.com/subtitles/the-passion-of-joan-of-arc-la-passion-de-jeanne-darc/french/940455
It should be acceptable as version 1.
The accents aren't correct because I don't normally type in french. You can probably fix that more easily than me.
peace
