Spin-off van The Vampire Diaries
Deze sexy nieuwe reeks, van de uitvoerende producent van The Vampire Diaries, zit vol bovennatuurlijke elementen en gaat over de 'Originele' vampierfamilie. 
De gevaarlijke vampier/weerwolf Klaus (Joseph Morgan) keert terug naar New Orleans, de stad die hij eeuwen geleden heeft helpen bouwen, 
waar hij ziet dat zijn voormalige duivelse protegé Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), een charismatische vampier, de controle heeft.

Season Two finds our heroes adjusting to a new status quo, with the very newly empowered werewolves controlling the city, Klaus struggles to adjust to new weaknesses, and Elijah is desperate to save Hayley, now a hybrid, from a vicious spiral of self-destruction.
