Restoring Britains Landmarks: Series 1
A new series offering exclusive access behind the scenes at The Landmark Trust, following some amazing restorations projects and delving into the history behind them

1) Belmont House, Hougoumont Farm
The first edition follows the start of demolition and assessment at Belmont House in Lyme Regis, with Dr Anna Keay investigating the builder of the house, Eleanor Coade. Plus, Alastair Dick-Cleland looks at the Music Room in Lancaster, and John Evetts goes to war over the decor at Hougoumont Farm on the Waterloo battlefield.

2) Llwyn Celyn Farm
The team explore the extraordinary time capsule Llwyn Celyn Farm, which is to undergo a three million pound restoration after surviving almost unchanged for almost 550 years. Plus, John Evetts continues working on Hougoumont Farm on the Waterloo battlefield in preparation for its opening by Prince Charles. At Belmont House, Lyme Regis, Anna oversees the reconstruction of a 250-year-old veranda and discovers why author John Fowles made it his home for 40 years.

3) Lundy Island and Fox Hall
Alastair Dick-Cleland oversees the restoration of a famous old lighthouse on Lundy Island, while John Evetts hand-crafts three Georgian fireplaces for Belmont House in Lyme Regis, but he has to ensure he remains within budget. In Fox Hall in Sussex, Anna Keay reveals the must-have gadget for the Georgian aristocrat, looking at why it took thirty years and the help of Big Ben's old engineer to restore it.

4) Copper Mine, Telescope, Stargazing
Alastair Dick-Cleland visits an engine house at a former Cornish copper mine, where a refurbishment is underway, while John Evetts searches for an antique telescope to complete the tower at Belmont House in Lyme Regis. Plus, Anna Keay explores the story behind the Victorian star-gazer Dr Bangay.

5) St Edward's Presbytery and Astley Castle
The restoration of St Edward's Presbytery begins, a Grade I masterpiece which was designed and owned by architect Augustus Pugin. Alastair Dick-Cleland oversees the recreation of an oriel window which was destroyed in the 1950s, while at Belmont House, John Evetts calls upon craftspeople to ensure it is ready for its first paying guests. Plus, Anna Keay learns about the secret technique which holds Astley Castle together.

6) Sandringham, Ramsgate and Aldeburgh
Following the final push to complete the restoration of St Edward's Presbytery in Ramsgate, Elsewhere, Alastair Dick-Cleland visits an unusual Martello tower at Aldeburgh in Suffolk that is battling to stay afloat, and Anna Keay explores Appleton Water Tower in Sandringham Park, investigating its role in disease and death on the Royal Estate.
