oh my fucking god this was a masterpiece
good god finally have it in proper quality
When I saw this film when it was released, something, I don't quite remember what, kind of bothered me about it. Like it was just a little to 'pat' or cliched or something. But, the reviews are very strong for it, so maybe I'd better give it another go...

: )
Did you like it vR...?
"Did you like it vR...?"

I didn't watch it when it came out in 2007, but I caught it on TV some years ago, and found it to be rather good. Yes, it's cliched in the way it's more or less a court room flick, with the usual Hollywood twists, but I remember really liking the play between Hopkins and Gosling. I found the acting top notch!
Yeah, that's pretty much what the reviews said. Thanks vR. I was just probably in a pissy mood when I watched it the first time : )

I know what you mean, mate. :) Some movies do need the right frame of mind to watch. Let me know how you feel the movie this time around?
Absolutely, thanks for asking! : )
Ahhhhh... I see what happened now. The original version that I saw, maybe the DVD, had a VERY different and MUCH poorer ending. I think the one I saw was the 2nd 'Alternate Ending'. This Blu-ray though defaulted to a completely different and much BETTER ending!
Heh... HUGE difference! I remembered Anthony Hopkins frantically smashing that clock-like machine and it was really stupid. BUT... the ending on this print is MUCH better! : ) I had forgotten how truly stunning the photography was. Excellent soundtrack too. Gosling was still a LITTLE green then, but overall it was really well done. Thanks mate!
"Gosling was still a LITTLE green then"

I just saw it again a few days ago. I agree he definitely looks a bit greenish compared to how he plays charaters today. :)
: )

Thanks for encouraging me to watch it again. I really enjoyed it!
BTW, the 'UNFORGIVEN' torrent won't allow me to comment for some odd reason, but I wanted to thank you for your input about what you thought about the new Remastered print. I don't know if Capaholics has comparisons, but I'm kind of curious...
Wow, this is REALLY bizarre... for some odd reason, I cannot comment on your 'THE KILLERS' post. I just wanted to say that I think the Arrow Xtras that you have provided are a LOT better than Criterions!

Thanks!
