David Liebman goes his most esoteric to date on this trio album with Tatsuya
Nakatani/dr-perc and Adam Rudolph, who plays things like slit drum, thumb
piano, sinti, mbuti harp and “live electronic processing.” Liebman, along with
the usual tenor and soprano sax, brings in the C flute, native American flute,
recorder, and even the fender Rhodes for a Baker’s Dozen improvisations.

Liebman’s soprano is chirpy on the title track, while free and puffy with hand
percussion on “The Simple Truth” and crying through the electronica of “The
Turning.” His tenor bops on “Present Time” and is brooding during
“Premonition.” Electronics and metallic percussion create edgy moods with a
spacy flute on” Cosmogram” and finger percussion adds mystery to “Distant
Twilight.” More mood and mystery than music.
