Steps:
1- Keep a safe copy of "ETABS.exe" (the original file)
<installdir> C:Program FilesComputers and StructuresETABS 2017
2- Run "CSiNativeImageGen.exe" Run As Administrator.
3- Click F4 (twice) Uninstall. (Do NOT close the window)
4- Replace the original file with the patched ETABS.exe
5- From CSiNativeImageGen.exe click F3 (twice or thrice until the commands start running and finish) and wait.
6- Replace the patched file with the original ETABS.exe


Create files new version for old version.

Beginning with ETABS 2015 v15.1.0, the file ETABSTran2013.exe is no longer included in the installation due to requirements set out by Microsoft for their Windows 8.1 Desktop App Certification Program. ETABS 2013 and ETABS 2015 v15.0.0 are not affected by this. 

If you have an older ETABS v7, v8, or v9 model file (*.edb) that you would like to open in ETABS 2016 v16.0.0 or later, please do the following to open the file. This places the translator into the installation directory such that old models can be open directly from within ETABS 2016 v16.0.0 or later. Please follow these steps.

Download the ETABSTran2013.zip file.
Unzip this file to the ETABS installation directory (i.e. C:Program FilesComputers and StructuresETABS 2016). If you are unable to paste the ETABSTran2013.exe file into the installation directory then you likely do not have sufficient permissions. You can either contact your IT department to assist with copying the file, or use Method 1 above to translate the old model file.
Run ETABS and open the old model file.
NOTE: The current version of the translator works with ETABS 2016 v16.0.0 and newer. If you are using ETABS 2015, please consider upgrading to ETABS 2016 or contact technical support for further assistance.
