Ûº As debut electronic rock albums go, this isn't at all bad. With ºÛ
Ûº the energy of Nine Inch Nails, enough guitars and drums to make ºÛ
Ûº Faith No More love them and a clearly rather considerable ºÛ
Ûº production budget, Aldershot quintet Vex Red have produced an ºÛ
Ûº album which takes 'old' rock and sticks it through a digital ºÛ
Ûº mincing machine. ºÛ
Ûº Much of the album employs highly quantized techniques which ºÛ
Ûº Nine Inch Nails in particular were fond of, creating abrupt ºÛ
Ûº starts, ends and pauses, digitised effects and layers of ºÛ
Ûº electronically enhanced noise, especially in the up-tempo numbers ºÛ
Ûº ('Cause and Solution'). There are hints of KoRn about this ºÛ
Ûº lot, with first single Itch featuring almost simplistic lyrics ºÛ
Ûº over all manner of electronic guitar effects and a headbanging ºÛ
Ûº drum beat. ºÛ
Ûº The electric guitar layering never once drowns the rest of the ºÛ
Ûº band out despite every opportunity to do so. The ballsy, lad's ºÛ
Ûº band quality necessary to infuse the recordings with an immediate ºÛ
Ûº vibrancy is here in spades. ºÛ
Ûº The slower numbers, such as Bully Me, usually start quietly and ºÛ
Ûº then explode into headbanging moshiness, the sort of thing your ºÛ
Ûº little sister would get crushed to in a festival. And, considering ºÛ
Ûº that the band reputedly hated each other before they were even ºÛ
Ûº signed, fans of Slipknot should probably give them a go too. ºÛ
