Light noir out of the UK highlighted by an engagingly written mystery starring Jack Hawkins and Arlene Dahl. The first half of the film has lots of intriguing twists and misdirection, but the pace slows in the latter half and comes to a somewhat anticlimactic resolution. Still, Hawkins is one of the great English character actors and has a strong supporting cast that keep things interesting.
