WESTLIFE - BACK HOME, album released in the UK November 5th 2007.


Westlife are an Irish pop music group whose roots are in Sligo in the north west of Ireland, that formed in July 1998. The group comprises of Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan. They were signed by Simon Cowell and managed by Louis Walsh. In recent years, Westlife's sound has evolved from boy band "teen pop" into a more adult contemporary music sound. Westlife have had fourteen number one singles in the United Kingdom between the years 1999 and 2006, the third-highest such total in UK history, behind Elvis Presley and The Beatles, and tied with Cliff Richard. They are also the only artist-group to win 'Record of the Year' in the UK four times. Westlife were awarded the Best Irish Pop Act, a public voting category, at the annual Ireland Meteor Awards for the seventh consecutive year on 2nd February 2007.

'Back Home' is the eight studio album by Irish boy band Westlife and was released in the UK on November 5th 2007 and various other dates Worldwide. The album contains a collection of brand new tracks along with a few covers of timeless classics. The first single from the album is a cover of the ballad 'Home', originally by Michael Buble which was released on October 29th 2007. The song debuted at number 3 on the official UK singles chart. Other cover songs are 'Have You Ever', a Diane Warren penned ballad previously recorded by Brandy and 'I'm Already There', a country ballad by Lonestar. First day sales figures revealed that 'Back Home' topped the chart, with 35,000 copies sold. The album maintained the top position throughout the week and debuted at number one on the official UK Album charts. At the time of writing [November 29th 2007] the album is at No.2 in the official UK album charts.
