http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108149/ Will Smith shows great talent as a serious actor in this comedy, which was made years before he established himself as a megastar. With Donald Sutherland and Stockard Channing at their best. This is not my rip, I found it on the net using PirateBay's tracker, so I thought it should be represented here. Widescreen, good stereo. Xvid 720x304. Burn tested, runs well in my divX player. Strange coincidence: The novel 'Catcher in the Rye' frequently referred to was an inspiration for the man who shot John Lennon of the Beatles. It's full of fuck-talk and sex. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Catcher_in_the_Rye

Many thanks for the post/repost... this is a nice addition to my collection (I have the VHS, but this'll be a great addition to the ole digital archive!!)

Wikipedia: In 1960, a teacher was fired, and later reinstated, for assigning the novel in class. Between 1961 and 1982, The Catcher in the Rye was the most censored book in high schools and libraries in the United States. In 1981, it was both the most censored book and the second most taught book in public schools in the United States.[
According to the American Library Association, The Catcher in the Rye was the 13th most frequently challenged book from 1990?2000. It was one of the 10 most challenged books in 2005, and came off the list in 2006.
The challenges generally begin with vulgar language, citing the novel's use of words like "fuck" and "goddamn", with more general reasons including sexual references, blasphemy, undermining of family values and moral codes, Holden's being a poor role model, encouragement of rebellion, and promotion of drinking, smoking, lying, and promiscuity.
I feel honoured to be called 'twit' by mr. Jack the Cripple, but I am not completely illiterate. I had probably read this book and a few thousand others in at least 6 languages before he was born.

Many thanks for the post!!!!!!!!!
Those American prudes will censure everything that contains any substantial quantity of originality or freedom of thought, in the name of freedom, of course.
But I won't go on a rant here....
But the Catcher does not contain so much sex, if at all, and just the right amount of swear-words, so Kuthumi's last remark was incorrect, in my opinion.
But fuck it. You speak 6 languages, mate? Respect : )

Correction: After seeing this film for the first time in 1997, I actually bought a new copy of the book and re-read it because I did not know that it was considered so important. I also checked my private film database of some 10,000 titles for tabs and keywords. I then established the keyword for 'Catcher in the Rye' at imdb and transferred the links. Please feel free to have a look:

what is all the hating americans talk.... I was born and raised here (the USA) and at least in my school, it was required readind as was "A day no Pigs will Die", "War and Peace", "Watership Down", "Moby Dick", "Lord of the Flies", "Tale of two Cities", "Shakespears Play, Julious Ceaser", "Homer's Iliad and Odyssey","The much studied poem -BEOWULF- from the Nowell Codex manuscript (British Library MS Cotton Vitellius A.xv) and a slew of other classics.... so whats up with even trying to suggest that Americans (mostly decended from English and other europens...so to talk shit of us is to slander your selves) I too have read literally thousands of books so if that is to make one "SPECIAL" then so we all are....sincerely, dlarrym

Kuthumi - You da Man. Thanx for this one - looking forward to watching. And, just to let you know, I stopped searching blindly for titles after finding 'backdoors' hiding in media, opting now for only downloading titles by certain uploaders. I only search by usernames such as yourself, so thanks for your contributions. Your collection is awesome and keeps me busy... ha! I'm an old fart and have no use or time for reading negative comments, especially ones posted by people riding high horses without a VIP staus.
