What every medical student needs? Come on. Your average medical student can't be bothered, they're too worried about learning medicine. Medical ethics? This crap is written by people on high horses who know nothing of medicine. Maybe it's current practise for medical students in North America to be bothered with medical ethics, but the rest of us do just fine without having to read propaganda or opinions from those who have never studied medicine. Follow the laws where you practice and use your common sense. And save your time for learning real medicine so you don't fuck up later in life. This is the shit that nurses read so they can bother busy doctors and make their lives more difficult than necessary.
96th percentile and I never bothered with medical ethics. know plenty of people who aced with 99's who couldn't care less.
@furtherdown
For heaven's sake... which confused hole did you crawl out of?
You say you never bothered with bioethics yet here you are ranting and raving against something you don't know, just like a first class (96th percentile) pompous fool.
Bioethics is the deepest possible study of factors revolving around and directly affecting your beloved 'common sense'. Many respected bioethicists are well-known MD's. No I don't care to name them - it's time for you to further your internet knowledge beyond TPB and actually search online for something fruitful.
As regards your advice to study only "real medicine"... you remind me of the idiot who bought a Ferrari only to crash the first time he tried driving it at night. The fool never bothered to learn how to switch on the head lamps as he thought he'd only ever drive during the day.
So there you are with your knowledge of the legal minimum and your ignorant common sense but no idea how to apply either because you simply don't know what's really at stake.
I'd say you need to study bioethics more than any medical student I've had the pleasure to meet. But before that I'd deal with that chip on the shoulder you have with nurses... sticks out like a sore thumb.
Grow up kid.

?furtherdown,? you are one elitist-sounding douchebag. "This is the crap that nurses read and bother doctors with." What a crap piece of thinking you have. I hope you're not a doctor. I'd certainly not come to you if you are. ?Nurses bother doctors?...I know some nurses who know far more than many doctors. You need to get your head from out your a** and grow up. Maybe the nurses they train in your country are deficient in what they do, but not the ones I know. We live in a complex society where doctors make all sorts of unethical decisions, some based on money, for example. Try watching the video entitled, "The Business of Being Born," it's on here:

Again, grow up.
