THIS IS SO F*CKED UP!
Ppl, THAT was the FIRST anime movie I saw as I was a child (in French - my parents worked in Afrika as doctors), 18 years ago.. It was VHS and incomplete, i didnt understand much as I am russian. But it impressed me VERY MUCH.
Now guess what, after watching 36 episode I discover thats actually a STUPID COMPILATION OF 3 DIFFERENT ANIME, CUT, CENSORED, DEVIATED AND COMBINED BY SOME ASSHOL#!!!! It ISNT actually a series, ITS A FCKING DUBBED COMPILATION. I wont call this guy as someone did - "Antichrist", I would rip his head off!!
If you like the style and the whole action 1-36, search for "The Super Dimension Fortress Macross" and all its series.
Its unbelievable, such a scumm..

Thanks all works great only down side is it was a 20.1 GB DL not 14.3 as stated
Come on you assholes downloading this, seed goddamn it! Some of you are sucking it down at over 400 kb/s and not fucking seeding at all...
Well, I dunno if shinobiteno ever reads this, but 'the robotech series is an official US compilation of 3 japanese OVAs and this is no forgery, blasphemy, deviation or whatever. This is some classics/ Like it or not, but it might have been and was the first anime for many people. Me also.
Thanks for the upload guys ;)
Thanks for the upload guys ;)
Remnabor, I read it :)
I guess, I was too overwhelmed by emotions back then....
But anyway the ending is deviated (no one from protagonists actually died), and they tried to hide the fact it is a respectless ripoff. I just loved the original concept and story too much...
On the positive side, title music is somehow better than original(at least to european mind, dunno what asian ppl would say..)
Anyway, I wouldn`t "rip off the head of the producer" but I would indeed show him the middle finger :P
Get Macross, just to compare.

@ Shinobinto and to all those who denigrate Carl Macek.
Yeah, #@!* you Carl Macek for taking 3 relatively unremarkable anime series and creating an overarching story that spans generations, generating familial links between the series and characters and forging what could be considered the greatest animated science fiction epic we've yet seen.
Robotech was also the CRUCIAL element of the early 80's that exposed the western world to Japanimation and made it palpable to western audiences – thereby engendering the explosion of manga and anime that we now enjoy. (It also spawned rip offs such as Transformers).
The original Japanese series were (typically of anime) immature, puerile and voyeuristic. Carl gave them greater depth, more maturity of emotional development and, again I reiterate, took 3 generic animes and created a reasonably cohesive 3 generation epic. It is a masterpiece of adapted story telling and I think your attitude is a little reprehensible as it seems, note that word "seems", to come from a child of the internet era, and does not account for the differences of the pre-internet world when you simply COULD NOT GET ANIME IN THE WEST. You need to view what he did from the perspective of the time in which he did it.
Carl changed the way we viewed cartoons. Prior to him the west predominately only had such delightfully insipid cartoons such as Scooby Doo – Wacky Races etc. He brought cartoons into a semi-adult space and catalysed the changes that swept the (western) industry in the mid 80's. He also opened the door to a level of science fiction not seen in the west (aside, perhaps, from Starwars).
And he did all that against quite a bit of opposition from nay sayer's who didn't think he could pull it off. Instead Robotech went on to become a popular phenomenon that still has an audience today.
You do a remarkable man, and a visionary, a great disservice.

My Childhood...it LIVES. I remember staying up all night on Friday because Robotech came on at like 6:30 in the fucking morning and I was so scared I would miss it if I slept.
