(Problems with magnets links are fixed by upgrading your torrent client!)
sumo upload stats

notice the ones with 90% or 50% download and the 5 or 15 meg upload.

as some have told me, they may be slow due to other day seeding.

this is a great point.

I think for the September Basho we should all just seed the CURRENT day

until we get the full day up, then seed the other days.

I will try next basho with no list and see how we go.

BTW, what does everyone think of the upload speed? OK?

I have attempted to set the upload speed as high as I can including my router to have full upload bandwidth!

Yours,

SciFi-Sumo

Thanks for uploading that screenshot from the client. Now, we can finally put an end to this confusion.

Like I told you in a comment on the torrent for the blocklist, what you are seeing in uTorrent is how much YOU upload to the peers. The Uploaded number in this pic for me is the same as it is in my client in the Downloaded column in the row of your host. That is also why the Download column should all be empty if you enable it, in the case of you, who are the uploader, and does not need to download anything from the others. If you add up all the upload numbers in the picture , and compare it the sum of % of the size of the torrent that the peers have downloaded, you can see that they are simply far from equal. The I letter in the flags column also show that all the connections are incoming.

The online FAQ has no info on this, but you can get the whole help file from the download section of the homepage of the program. If you open the chm file and look under Appendix A: The µTorrent Interface > Main Window > Detailed Info Pane > Peers, it list what the numbers in the tabs represent.

I understand that the title of the tabs in the client might be misleading, but the irony in the way you make up who the leechers are, is that you are shitlisting people on the basis of how much YOU upload to them.

There is no way you can get these statistics from your own client, but only from the tracker. And since PB is a public open tracker, without passkeys or registration requieremnt, the only thing that could be listed here is the IPs/hostnames of the peers, and that would not be very wise, since it would be widely open for enyone to see.

Uploading and seeding only one day of the tournament at a time also has a problem. People come getting and joining the torrents as late as weeks after the whole basho ended, and no torrents would have only seeders for quite some time.
I have to confirm what Xabster says. I am on that screengrab, and at the time it was made, I have uploaded more than ten times the number there. (At the moment, my ratio is 1.214, check what you see now.)
Sci-Fi Sumo,

Oh dear, it's true. The people you have blacklisted on your screenshot are the people that YOU have uploaded least to, not the people that are themselves uploading least...

It looks like it's time for you to drop this chump list idea.
As for speed, I was able to download day 13 in about six hours , despite not being able to connect to you for about the fourth day running. I'm not on your screenshot so I assume I've finally been blacklisted, despite having sent 52gb of data thus far...
So your goal is that whoever you upload the first 100% of your file, will seed it down the line.

Based on peer suggestions, you could assemble a 'trusted seeders' list', and restrict your upload to them until they have 100%.

Speed could be another factor. But one that may put myself off the list. I observed that who I think is Herlock must have ten times my bandwidth (my upload speed can get barely above 60kB/s even if downloads finished, while my download speed from him can get near 200kB/s).

So if you accept this trusted uploader idea, I nominate Herlock :-)
Another peer who seems a reliable and fast uploader shares your provider but from a different US state.
SciFi-Sumo,
I think you are overemphasising the upload speed. Just seed the files and wait for us to say nice things about you ;-). Ultimately you're only going to seed to completion as fast as YOUR connection can send data and it doesn't much matter whether you have five 'trusted seeders/peers' (an idea that worries me greatly) or fifty (a better option). They say 'a watched pot never boils' and I think you'll create less grief for yourself (and us) if you just put the files up and let us all get on with it.

I have a connection to you currently on day 14 so hopefully you're not using the chump list today, and hey presto speed is just the same as it was yesterday. There's no discernable difference whatsoever.
If one of the 5 or ten of the 50 first downloaders he is seeding to is a chump, the download will take 20% more time for him (as well as the rest of us).
What??? You're incorrectly assuming that five seeders will all seed at exactly the same speed. The more likely scenario is that he will seed to someone who can seed to the rest of us at a far greater speed, someone who seeds very slowly and the rest somewhere in between. In other words if he can seed 1mb to someone who can then seed that 1mb to the rest of us in the same time it doesn't matter how slowly the rest upload. I suspect there are an awful lot less chumps here than you or SciFi-Sumo suspect.
To put it another way, just because one of your five seeders was sending little or no data it doesn't mean that one of the other seeders won't be sending data quickly enough to make up for it. And there are some very quick connections here.
On the quality...well, anything is way better then nothing, so both the file size and the encoding is just fine the way they are, even though 4 days don't fit on a dvd, but I'm watching them on the PC so it doesn't matter. Of course HiDef would be better :D (if such exist at all for NHK broadcast)

About the speed...I always only seed the last day myself, so all my upload can go to getting the latest file faster for all the peers.
You might try super-seeding for the last day, but it might make things worse. It depends on how fast the peers that connect you first are able to seed back, and how many peers gather in the swarm.
Xabster, do you think there's a case for restarting previous days once the current day is finished? The reason I ask is that we've just gone from one seed to twenty six in five minutes so this torrent is doing nicely but some of the previous days have rather fewer seeds, admittedly with fewer peers too. What I will do today is seed until I'm about 1.5 ratio then restart all the previous days to help latecomers.
What do you think of this?
iceblood, you don't get it. The seeding speed of those five/50 is not the limiting factor (and I'm not assuming anything about their relative upload speeds), it's SciFi-Sumo's that matters.

If a chump takes part of SciFi-Sumo's bandwidth away during the initial seeding, then he has to upload the same megabytes AGAIN to some other peer before it is shared with the rest of us.

As for seeding only the current day until it is up to 15-20 peers, of course!
You may or may not be right but I'm puzzled. Why are you so all fired up on this chump idea. SciFi-Sumo was misreading his client thereby misrepresenting many innocent users and in that respect there is no evidence to suggest there are any chumps involved. You're simply fostering a climate of suspicion and paranoia that we can all well do without. No offence meant.
What did you think of my usenet idea? As you didn't reply in the other thread I assumed you were against it.
Size and quality of the files are fine. Thank you for sharing :)

Another note on the chump list -- due to timing, so I often cannot get onto the torrent when there are already 20+ seeds. My download speed is faster than upload, so I generally don't have 1:1 by the time it's done downloading. For example, the day 15 I am dl'ing now I am at only .87 ratio. But I always leave it seeding when its done until I have uploaded more than my share. So I can be one of the "late" seeders, LOL.

Regards,
Pak
Iceblood, **I** am not all fired up, I am just trying to explain myself when I meet lack of understanding needing triple question marks :-)

What ultimately matters is that the file gets out to seeders as fast as it can. USENET, direct link, first seeding to select users who'll re-seed with high bandwidth, or giving the file to the same people via another site and then seed to everyone else - whatever works best. So while that moves towards a solution, for the record:

1) Unlike SciFi's failed Chump List idea, none of the above would bar anyone from downloading from the chosen first ten/whatever seeders.

2) Unlike seeders, downloading peers don't need to rely on paranoia to see a chump, they can see a chup when s/he is ahead of them in downloading: when you see you upload to someone a lot but download almost nothing, and the guy logs out right after his/her download finished. In fact, two bashos ago, the majority cared little about seeding, but after SciFi threatened us with the Chump List, suddenly a lot of peers stayed after reaching 100%. (So while SciFi blacklisted a lot of people - for a time including me - for nothing but a misreading of data, there was another effect that balanced it :-) )

3) Again, all of this is for the record. Whatever gets the file faster from SciFi-Sumo to the first co-seeders, I am for it.
Kemaran, in case you missed the news yet: unfortunately, "Day 15" is presently a copy of Day 14... so you better stop downloading (unless you want it for a slightly better quality).
Amafan, I just noticed the comments on the day 15 torrent. LOL, oh well. I'll nab it for the quality since I'm at 67%. I'll keep a seed up for the real day 15 when it's available for you through this weekend to make sure you get a copy.

I have decent usenet service, so I can help seed here if that is the approach taken. Whatever sci-fi sumo decides. My timing on being able to get online to get the files from usenet may prove to be not very useful for helping with the initial seed, although the beauty of usenet is that I can get the file and start seeding in a very short time :) I think for this basho, I got online for only half the days with only scifi seeding.

Regards.
