It's actually pretty sad that most people don't seem to realize that modification of our food has been going since man first learned how to farm. Just do a quick search of corn and learn how it has been modified from its original teosinte wild grass form over the last 7,000 years. Same with tomatoes and most other foods that we eat.
"Everything" has been modified in some form or another and people are living longer than ever. I'm no fan of these big companies, but you "chicken littles" stirring up controversy are equally, if not more-so, duplicitous!

@jawick9, interesting how you breeze over like there is no difference between a farmer cross pollinating and a scientist in a laboratory genetically modifying the hell out of something, then copyrighting it and expecting all farmers to then use it or else! Just keep your head in the sand and slander those who seek the truth. There's a good little boy.
Backing up what TroyMounie and 2HardRain wrote, @jawick9 is either an ignorant piece of trash, or a piece of manure working in the GMO industry and expecting us here to be his gullible sheep. Of course there is a UNIVERSE of difference between crossbreeding, which sometimes happens naturally, by itself and chance, as in the case of chance seedlings, which a [lot] of our tasty apple types and colors come from today, on the one hand, and...gene splicing and screwing around [genetically] with animals and plants. There is a [world] of difference between this and that. So up yours and ignorant or purposefully deceptive scumbags like you, jawick9.
