This Robert O. Becker and Gary Selden's mindblowing book The Body Electric - Electromagnetism and the Foundation of Life (1985) which documents an one man's quest to bring forward an electromagnetic evolution in medicine which would finally lead it from the early 1800's into the 21st century. Becker was an orthopedic surgeon who spent three decades doing the step-by-step research necessary to determine what exactly causes limb regeneration at various animals. He discovered that the body's electromagnetism plays a vital role in any regenerative processes and that by properly stimulating it you could convince any of the harmed body part to heal itself. Dr. Becker was studying something very important, and his conclusions flew in the face of the conventional views of science at that time, and also of today. He was not only way ahead of his time in theory but actually produced unbelievable results which could be verified at the amazement of anyone who had doubts in them. At the heart of Becker's monumental regenerative technology is the ability too create artifical cell dedifferentiation which in turns starts the regenerative process. He also lays the groundwork for understanding ancient traditions such as Qigong (concept of the energetic body) in addition to exposing the widespread electromagnetic pollution we are now exposed to and is doing more harm to us than any other. This is also one of the most alarming parts of the book since radiation was proven to be harmful but this fact is often denied because of economic interests involved so studies showing it are delayed or simply buried. As a result of this radiation, people suffer from all sorts of ailments that doctors are unable to diagnose. During research years he and his colleagues had to run interference against the most hideously uninformed, petty, self-serving government agencies and beaurocracies, which are ironically often made up of other scientists. This man is one of the true pioneers of energy medicine and was also nominated for the Nobel prize. At the time he was doing his research, he had no idea that the electrical signals he was detecting in the bodies of both animals and humans, were part of the body's energy system, one of which is the Meridian system (along which acupoints are located). Find out the electromagnetic secrets of regeneration your body already knows full well and is applying them every day without your knowledge. 330 pages, many pictures. A must read from everyone. From the backcover: The Body Electric tells the fascinating story of our bioelectric selves. Robert O. Becker, a pioneer int the field of regeneration and its relationship to electrical currents in living things, challenges the established mechanistic understanding of the body. He found clues to the healing process in the long-discarded theory that electricity is vital to life. But as exciting as Becker's discoveries are, pointing to the day when human limbs, spinal cords, and organs may be regenerated after they have been damaged, equally fascinating is the story of Becker's struggle to do such original work. The Body Electric explores new pathways in our understanding of evolution, acupuncture, psychic phenomena, and healing. Journal of Ultramolecular Medicine: "This is truly a fascinating history of an important area of investigation, and an accurate expose of the politics of medicine and research. I highly recommend this reading for everyone interested in the future direction of medicine. Ms. magazine: "The Body Electric is a gripping account of science at the cutting edge. The writing is clear and vivid, and the story - about one man's quest for knowledge in the face of government resistance - is sure to chill." Brain/Mind Bulletin: "This definitive book... sheds light on mysteries of cancer, acupuncture, and psychiatric disorders." Library Journal: "A highly informative book on regeneration for educated lay readers." Choice: "This book is well written and very informative, with many thoughtful ideas about the relationship of electromagnetism and electricity to basic life processes, medical care, and environmental concerns. Also, the politics of the world of medical research are presented in a realistic light."
