This is a very interesting piece of Cold War propaganda from Hollywood, showing the importance of accepting a call back to service to prevent a third world war, and how the wife of an officer recalled should support her husband in doing so.

In addition to this theme, for aviation buffs, there is interesting footage of three key aircraft. First is the B-36, a giant six-prop bomber (with a couple of jets for added thrust during takeoff), which was the first aircraft in service of the United States Military that had been designed specifically to deliver nuclear weapons. The second is the B-47 Stratojet, which was a much more capable (range, speed, altitude, and duration) bomber than the B-36, and served as a stop-gap aircraft until the B-52 Stratofortress was ready for service. Incidentally, the B-52 is still in service today. Finally there is one segment which shows a great many of the C-124 Globemaster cargo aircraft, being loaded. This is the aircraft my father worked on, in the USAF during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

This is a great film for anyone with an interest in the Cold War, and particularly in Cold War aviation and its important role in US military doctrine of the age, as dictated by technology.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! This is a home theater cam bootleg recorded straight off the TV (or a horrible conversion from VHS). Picture quality is awful. Everything is too dark. Sound isn't great. Does absolutely no justice to the original film. Without a doubt the worst quality film I've downloaded from PB. So bad, I actually opened an account to post this warning. Sorry, but I won't seed this garbage to anyone.

Ignore vK76's comments, this movie is quite watchable, it was a very feeble excuse not to seed. this is the first time i have ever made a comment as well. there is no other souce that i have found for this flick so I thank GungaDan for uploading it
Quality is really bad, it's probably ripped from TV with an old TV card. Interlacing problems, fuzzy as hell and bad colours.

It's watchable, but not more than that. I don't think it's available on DVD, though, so I'll seed for a while.
Thank you, GungaDan, for this interesting and rarely seen film. Some may complain about the quality, but until Hollywood see fit to release a restored version to DVD we will have to make do. Personally I think the quality is acceptable, but the original VistaVision begs for a Blu-Ray master. The B-36 in flight sequences are particularly nice, especially when one considers that not a single flyable example remains. I must quibble a bit, however. The B-36 traces back to a design specification created in 1941, before the US entered WWII and well before the first atomic bomb. Even the B-47 traces back to pre-nuclear times. I think the B-58 Hustler must be considered the first purpose-built strategic nuclear attack bomber.
Nope. No UFOs at 39:33, just plenty of compression artifacts.
Movie can be bought as DVD! Look for it on EBay or you can also buy it at this url
