Jimi Hendrix - Live Isle Of Wight '70 Label: Polydor Catalog#: 847 236-2 Format: CD Country: Netherlands Released: 1991 Bass - Billy Cox Drums - Mitch Mitchell Guitar, Vocals - Jimi Hendrix Mastered By - Joe Gastwirt Mixed By - Mark Linett Producer - Alan Douglas Written-By - Jimi Hendrix Notes: Between August 26th and 30th 1970 half a million people gathered at East Afton Farm on the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England. It marked the return of Jimi Hendrix to the British stage for the first time in 18 months. What fans heard was the swan song of a genius and an era; 18 days later Jimi died in London. Tracklisting: 01 Intro/God Save The Queen (3:00) 02 Message To Love (6:26) 03 Voodoo Chile (8:01) 04 Lover Man (3:25) 05 Machine Gun (12:37) 06 Dolly Dagger (5:32) 07 Red House (11:10) 08 In From The Storm (4:20) 09 New Rising Sun (7:31) .======================================================================= review from http://www.speedylook.com/Live_Isle_Off_Wight_'70.html Live Isle Off Wight '70 Second of the three albums devoted to the Island of Wight, the album published by Douglas in 1991 is not to put at its credit. Undoubtedly better than the first (which was catastrophic), it does not remain about it less than there was to really better do than the album than it produced. The choice of the titles operated by Douglas on Live Isle Of Wight '70 is far from being satisfactory: it draws aside Sgt. Pepper' S Lonely Hearts Club Band (however present on Hendrix In The West ), Spanish Castle Magic (but its presence on the video becomes a sales point), All Along The Watchtower , Purple Haze (then new) and a broad part of Machine Gun , preferring to deliver a version published without musical quality to us. The small pocket itself is not very professional: Voodoo Chile is in fact Voodoo Child (Slight Return) and New Rising Sun is not the title which it will publish in opening of Voodoo Soup but well Hey Baby (New Rising Sun) . Moreover, the mention “ contains 7 new titles †is untrue: if To coil Man and In From The Storm of course appeared the first album devoted to Wight ( Isle Of Wight ), Message To Love was present on The First Great Rock Festivals off the Seventies , God Save The Queen on Hendrix In The West , Machine Gun and Red House on the original soundtrack of the film Jimi Hendrix and Dolly Dagger on Jimi Hendrix - Live ! “ thus had to be read contains 7 titles already published â€! Another negative aspect of Live Isle Off Wight '70 : its mixing. Hendrix had encountered large engineering problems at the time of its performance, and the sound of its guitar does not have its usual stamp. The Mixage the Douglas one still reinforces with dimensions metal sound of the guitar, without roundness, almost nightmarish… Titles Intro/God Save The Queen Message To Love Voodoo Chile Lover Man Machine Gun Dolly Dagger Red House In From The Storm New Rising Sun A charcuté concert As on Training courses - Atlanta 70 , Douglas altered the order of the titles: God Save the Queen 1 Sgt. Pepper' S Lonely Hearts Club Band Spanish Castle Magic All Along The Watchtower Machine Gun 5 To coil Man 4 Freedom Red House 7 Dolly Dagger 6 Midnight Lightnin' Foxy Lady Message To Love 2 Hey Baby (New Rising Sun) 9 Ezy Ryder Hey Joe Purple Haze Voodoo Child (Slight Return) 3 In From The Storm 8 Voodoo Child (Slight Return) , always played at the end of the concert is found at the beginning of CD whereas Red House is played in first part of concert… The dynamics in the concert is completely broken. To remove Sgt. Pepper' S Lonely Hearts Club Band after the English anthem (as well as various the cuts) definitively completes this rebuilding missed by the performance of Jimi Hendrix in the Island of Wight. .
