Keep in mind that a few of these titles aren't exactly post-apocalyptic (meaning that a major event hasn't wiped out most of the planet or humankind), but they do follow the theme to a degree. For example, John Brunner's "The Sheep Look Up" tells the story of an overly-polluted Earth
and its effects on mankind.

Admittingly, I haven't read all of these, but I do recommend Walter Smith's "A Canticle for Leibowitz" and Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" if you haven't dove into the genre before.

More to come!....once I find them. If you find anything from John Joseph Adams' list (link below) and I don't have it here, email it to [email protected] Include what name you wish to be thanked by.

FAQ:

Q: So, what do I need to start reading?

A: The eBooks are in different formats, so you may need a couple of programs. Foxit Reader is great for PDFs and your web browser of choice can read the *.html, *.rtf, and *.txt files.

Q: Some of these aren't formatted too well.

A: What do you want for free? Go buy the actual book.

Awesome collection mate, thanks a million.
I wish to express my gratitude to you, Gerard, for compiling such an amazing collection of books!
This really is a "treasure box", like stepping into an old cellar full of wonders :)
Cheers
Thanks a lot for the list - a few additions for posterity :
- René Barjavel's "Ravage" & "La nuit des temps" - imho the list couldn't be complete without one of his works
- José Saramango's "Blindness - What's left of society when everybody goes blind
- Stephen King's "The Strand" - A virus kills almost everybody... no not a zombie novel
- William R. Forstchen's "One second after" - Poorly written, manichean, macho, basically flawed in every respect BUT the chillingly realistic depiction of the aftermath of an EMP
... and sorry just forgot :
- W. Strieber's "Warday" - A documentary-like account of a nuclear war between The red evil and the land of the fried.
Wow; amazing collection, really appreciate this, thank you so very very much.
