Norman McLaren (1914 – 1987) was a Scottish-born Canadian animator and film director known for his work for the National Film Board of Canada (NFB). Starting to make animated films in 1939, Mclaren is considered to be one of the pioneers of animation. He focused on abstract animation and invented several interesting techniques, such as direct-on-filn painting and scratching, experimented a lot with pixillation. He is known as a great experimentator in the field of animation. Anyway, he is bestly known for the film called "Neighbours" (1952), that bring him an Academy Award. This film is shot in pixillation technique, bu the main thing with it is that it has a great social message of pacifism and tolerance. This torrent consists of: 1. 36 short films 2. 9 commercial and propaganda films 3. 6 McLaren's documentaries, including "Pinscreen" (1970) about Alexandre Alexeieff and "Animated Motion#5" 4. 13 tests, making-ofs and other video documents 5. 4 unfinished films 5.
