Gentoo Linux image file for Cooperative Linux ( http://colinux.org ) ------------------------------------------------------- Cooperative Linux is the first working free and open source method for optimally running Linux on Microsoft Windows natively. More generally, Cooperative Linux (short-named coLinux) is a port of the Linux kernel that allows it to run cooperatively alongside another operating system on a single machine. For instance, it allows one to freely run Linux on Windows 2000/XP, without using a commercial PC virtualization software such as VMware, in a way which is much more optimal than using any general purpose PC virtualization software. -------------------------------------------------------- To get started, run gentoo.bat. This assumes that you've installed coLinux in C:ProgrammmdcoLinux (the default) and extracted this folder into C:ProgrammmdcoLinux (so that the files are in C:ProgrammmdcoLinuxgentoo). If you haven't, you'll need to edit gentoo.conf and gentoo.bat. The password for root is root. eth0 is configured to work as slirp device via dhcp eth1 is optional (not active), if you have a TAP-win32 adapter with IP address 192.168.200.1 and no gateway address. This is a basic install of Gentoo 2006.1, brought up to date with an emerge --sync && emerge world on 2007-02-23 (+syslog-ng, vixie-cron, dhcpcd, screen). It's setup to run on i686 with NPTL. Another emerge --sync && emerge world by ravage at 2009-05-13 You'll probably need to change the following: * The amount of memory allocated to Gentoo (gentoo.conf) * Timezone (/etc/localtime) * Portage and rsync mirrors (/etc/make.conf) * TAP Network (gentoo.conf, /etc/conf.d/net) * Execute 'emerge --sync' to restore the portage tree Enjoy! --Chris Forno, 2007-02-25 --Henry N., 2007-03-03 --Ravage, 2009-05-13
