Originally conceived as a segment of Chungking Express only to spin off on its own woozy axis, Fallen Angels plays like the dark, moody flip side of its predecessor as it charts the subtly interlacing fates of a handful of urban loners, including a coolly detached hit man (Leon Lai Ming) looking to go straight; his business partner (Michelle Reis), who secretly yearns for him; and a mute delinquent (Takeshi Kaneshiro) who wreaks mischief by night. Swinging between hard-boiled noir and slapstick lunacy with giddy abandon, the film is both a dizzying, dazzling city symphony and a poignant meditation on love, loss, and longing in a metropolis that never sleeps. Extras • Only You - Director Wong Kar-Wai briefly discusses the relationship between Chungking Express and Fallen Angels, followed by a montage of deleted scenes. • Whom You Miss - A profile of Chan Man-Lei, the real-life manager of the Chungking Mansions Hotel, who was asked by Wong Kar Wai to act in Fallen Angels. • A Beautiful Evening - Wong Kar-Wai gives some insight into the shooting process—especially regarding the use of the fisheye lenses—and talks about how Fallen Angels gave his crew the confidence to shoot anywhere, under any conditions. • Chris Doyle - Longtime Wong Kar-Wai cinematographer and Australian ex-pat Chris Doyle—who always gives a nutty, typically alcohol-assisted interview—discusses color theory, his role as DP as it relates to the actors, and Fallen Angels' unique visual style. • Stills Gallery • Trailer
