WDTV users change extension from .m4v to .mp4 Apparently there is a sync problem with MP4 for WDTV Live with the latest firmware. It is discussed here http://wdtvhd.com/index.php?showtopic=8778 and here http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-Firmware/1-0-17-MP4-Audio-Sync/td-p/6146 and suggested to rollback firmware to revision 1.01.00 PS3 user may need to rename to .mp4 also if you are playing from USB device. Should be fine if you are just streaming with the .m4v extension. Apple TV user ensure running firmware 3.0.1 (this firmware plays video much better than old firmware). Use custom movie sync option "Automatically include the 10 most recent movies along with selected movies." Streaming is possible but for best result always play native. You may experience slight frame rate loss while streaming under certain conditions. -------------------------------------------------------- Video technical specifications: Video: Codec: AVC via x264 Profile: [email protected] Bitrate: 3000 Kbps FPS: 23.976 Rate Control: 2 pass Audio 1: Codec: AAC Stereo Bitrate: 160 Kbps (for everything) Audio 2: Codec: Dolby Digital 5.1 Bitrate: 448 Kbps (for Apple TV use TOSLINK to receiver to enable DD, or use WDTV Live, or VLC on PC) Subtitle 1 (External): English ------------------------------------------------------- -HR

Hey Holy,
Did those iTunes info files help at all? I've since been using Handbrake and selecting the total bitrate at 4500 kbps. Been noticing a better quality in picture ever since, even when the source file is lower.

Tried that setting with a TV episode, and all good there. Just trying it now with a movie. I'm going by what the iTunes store downloads seem to be averaged at, so I'll let you know how that goes.
The size of the file should depend, in part, on the length of the movie. I'm going to experiment with different length movies, and see what happens.
I never used to use Handbrake, as it only worked part of the time, but so far the newest version (released a couple of months ago) has worked with 100% of the source files.
