On February 1, 1915, Charles Chaplin released his first painting at the Essen studio - a short film with the self-explanatory title "His New Work". The terms of the contract were fundamentally different. Chaplin received $ 1,250 a week and $ 10,000 in bonus for signing an annual contract. Under this contract, Chaplin directed 14 short comedies for Essanay in 1915, and also played a cameo role in the film with Broncho Billy (His Regeneration).
Working for Essanay, Chaplin assembles his first stable acting team, featuring Edna Pewines, comedians Leo White, Bud Jamison and John Rand. The shooting time for new films increased from one week to two, then to a month. Chaplin got the opportunity to work more thoughtfully, without everlasting haste.
