"Baby Jane" was a UK number one single for three weeks in July 1983 for Rod Stewart.

Written by Rod Stewart and Jay Davis and produced by Stewart, Tom Dowd, George Cutko and Jim Cregan. The song was the lead single from his Body Wishes album and was his most successful single since "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" in 1978. This was Stewart's sixth and final UK number one single thus far. In the USA, the song was also a big hit, peaking at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Belle & Sebastian performed a cover of this song for their vinyl single "White Collar Boy".

Body Wishes is a studio album released by Rod Stewart on June 10, 1983. It was Rod’s 12th studio album and was released on Warner Bros. Records (WEA 92-3877-1). The tracks were recorded and mixed at The Record Plant, Los Angeles. It produced three singles, “Baby Jane”, “What Am I Gonna Do (I'm so in Love with you)", and “Sweet Surrender”.

Roderick David "Rod" Stewart, CBE (born 10 January 1945) is a British singer-songwriter born and raised in London, England and currently residing in Epping. He is of Scottish and English lineage.

With his distinctive raspy singing voice, Stewart came to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s with The Jeff Beck Group and then Faces. He launched his solo career in 1969 with his debut album An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down (US: The Rod Stewart Album). He has had 16 top ten singles in the USA, with four of these reaching number one. He has sold over 250 million records worldwide, and is one of the best selling British singers of all time. He was voted at #33 in Q Magazine's list of the top 100 Greatest Singers of all time.
