Nice build NOW MKVs with MP4a Audio works properly if fast forward a video
before it would loose it for up to a minute or so
then suddenly come back
not tried it on NAS box accessing and seeing
it more smooth as used to cliched every 10 min

HOWEVER playing xvids I get an assertion fault
which can ignore video plays .. try compatiable mode
fails to send report to ftp server also

Ok I found how to rid the crash
go to inputs/codecs section in prefs and tick on use accelerated
GPU mode and changed pre post level from 6 to 4

maybe its a win7 32bit problem? or the video card on this HP radeon 4970m some conflict or a coders bug?
using win 7 on a 4 core/4 threads i7 probook
speed not a issue now and sp1 on win 7 maybe done something too?

Well difficult to say bro...
What i can tell you is to avoid to enable :
GPU acceleration video decoding (experimental)
is certain cases where vlc will not working properly if you enable it.
Btw do you have avivo,dndtranscoding or else installed.
May be another driver could be better for you.
