Songs of Silence takes us on a journey to a fantastic universe, torn by war between the warring worlds of light and darkness. During the game, we choose one side of the conflict and try to lead it to victory before our world is consumed by the titular Silence.

In Songs of Silence we watch the action from a bird's eye view. At first glance, the gameplay does not differ much from the pattern to which we are accustomed to other 4X strategies. While playing, we discover the world, collect resources and expand cities, as well as field a powerful army and lead it to victory over the enemy's forces, conquering his lands step by step. The factions we choose influence the range of possibilities available during the game and determine our play style; while one may be strong in magic, another might be in bare steel and the size of an army.

Nevertheless, the title introduces a number of interesting solutions. Although the kingdom is managed in turn-based mode, battles take place in real time; interestingly, they are so dynamic that they often last about a minute. Various units take part in the clashes - from infantry, through monsters, to siege machines. Victory is determined by both the level of advancement of our army and the tactics used; the game allows us, among other things, to use the terrain and organize ambushes. In addition, we support our subordinates with special cards that provide special abilities and attacks with various destructive power (from precise to those that burn entire cities into flames); their skillful use can change the fate of many battles. We expand the deck as we progress, and subsequent cards represent our locations and the heroes under our command.
