The friggin' movie should be burned in broad daylight along with the Confederate flag. Griffth was a classic idiot savant -- one who did invent some interesting technigues (though overrated there as well), but the techniques are put to express little but sentimental glop and total racism.
Let's burn "Gone with the Wind" while we're at it.

I would just like everyone who commented and ranted about how the republicans to please do your homework. It was in fact the southern DEMOCRATES who were all for slavery, granted there were republicans involved too, but the majority were democratic.
@uzahname, I think you should do your homework better. In 1854, when the republican party was created, they were the ones who fought against slavery, Abraham Lincoln was a republican and he was the one who abolished slavery by introducing the 13th amendment in 1965. And the democrates were the ones who sanctioned slavery. At the start of the 20th era they switched roles and the democrates became the ones fighting against slavery and the republicans sanctioned it

This is a piece of film history. Disturbing content and made during a time of oppression and Jim Crow laws still deeply entrenched. It's not right but it is part of who we are today and we all have to face our failures to transcend them. Thank you, sujaidr.
