The text in this book (what there is of it) is in German, but the artwork is in mind-melting, surrealistic, badassery. Granville's influence on generation after generation of artist cannot be over-estimated. It's truly incredible to me that everything in this book was created prior to 1847. This guy's mind was clearly working on a different level than everyone else. I'm also somewhat amazed that this book doesn't appear to have been reprinted. It's screaming for a giant coffee table version, and I totally want a print of that image up there with the turtle dog. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 'Another World' Although I'm sure it says, I'm not sure exactly who the publisher was. Grandville - one of my very favorite illustrators. A pre-Dali Victorian surrealist. I have a Dover collection. A good deal more can be found at archive(dot)org.
