Talking Landscapes Nature Documentary hosted by Aubrey Manning, published by BBC in 2009 - English narration Information ------------------------------ Talking Landscapes Aubrey Manning sets out on a journey to study the changing face of Britain's countryside 1) The Weald This edition focuses on the Weald, investigating why so much woodland has survived here when so much ancient forest has been felled elsewhere. A trip to the Mary Rose and Nelson's Victory reveals the full story of the Weald and its valuable timber. 2) Pembrokeshire Coast Professor Aubrey Manning explores the Pembrokeshire coastline and its connections with the sea. He discovers castles and standing stones, as well as evidence of successive invaders who arrived by sea when the coastline was far from remote. 3) Yorkshire Dales How have generations of Yorkshire families made a living from the bitter winds and stoney soils of the Dales? Aubrey Manning journeys high on the hillsides and deep underground to discover the key to this harsh landscape. 4) The Fens Aubrey Manning sets out to uncover the history of Britain's ever-changing landscape. He investigates whether the Fens - flat, drained farmland - are a completely man-made landscape, and uncovers a 17th-century aristocratic plan gone horribly wrong. Plus, the secret of the Roman occupation - the Fens' hidden prehistoric hills. 5) The Cairngorms Looking for the ancient Caledonian forest, Aubrey Manning uncovers a landscape that's now disappeared and the Victorian secret at the heart of the highlands. 6) Vale of Evesham Series in which Aubrey Manning sets out to discover the history of Britain's ever-changing landscape. Clues from the local art gallery, a spot of ploughing and a flight with a local pilot help uncover an Anglo-Saxon agricultural revolution.
