Rex Mundi Volume 2: The River Underground Trade Paperback

The most influential clandestine society in the history of the world is uncovered, a powerful man is murdered, and a mysterious ally appears with a thousand-year-old message as Doctor Julien Saunière continues his hunt for the Holy Grail!

From a disgraced order of knights to the secrets of a neoclassic painter, Julien Sauniere follows a trail of conspiracy that extends all the way to the walls of Jerusalem during the first crusade. In a Europe where sorcerers stalk the streets and the Catholic Church reigns supreme, Julien pursues a truth that could change the world forever. Powerful forces have dedicated themselves to ensuring he does not succeed.

Collecting issues #6-11 originally published by Image, and a never-before-in-print "Brother Matthew" story, this second volume of the critically acclaimed Rex Mundi combines fantasy and mystery, history and horror, to craft a tale unlike any ever seen in comics.

"Re-Quest"... that's, like, when you failed to rescue the princess from the dragon/tower situation the first time 'round and go for a do-over, yes? :P

Knight-errantry aside, though, what did you think of this series? I firmly expected to like it, being a sucker for alternate histories, but ended up quite disappointed, without being able to quite put my finger on why. Maybe a case of trying to cram too many ideas into a single narrative, which ultimately got into each other's way rather than create a greater whole, or something like that...

The artwork is scrumptious for the most part, however. :)
haven't even opened it. sounds good, though!

also, "thank you mario. but your princess is in another castle!"

Heh, my default assumption is always that you've read every comic in existence (and then some, possibly). :P
nah like half of them. i read an interview with a "retired" scanner once, and one question was like "what did you do after you quit scanning?" and the person answered, "started reading comics again." lol thankfully, i still read a lot.

i should get to this, sooner or later. i've downloaded book 1 and need to get the others now.

Well, do drop me a line and let me know what I disliked about it afterwards, would you. :)
this has nothing to do with anything, but do they use the same title font for another series? oddly, it looks very familiar.

The only thing that comes to mind is that it's quite similar to the font they used in Disney's "Aladdin", if I'm not mistaken. The font that does look quite familiar to me is the one used for the creators' names... might be one of the standard sets from Comicraft or something like that?
maybe! you're smarter than the average heretic
Ah! Rex Mundi! Like gesserit, I'm a fan of alt history, and I remembered buying the very first issue a decade(?) ago, and then forgetting about comics for awhile. I've always been meaning to get back into it, though.

I think you and I maybe read the same interview, STF, and I was thinking about it just the other day-- they were talking about how most of the scanners and uploaders do it just to do it, not because they're "fighting the man" or whatever. This is why I'm happy uploading packs of things that I (mostly) read-- although for the last few months I haven't been reading much of much, and I keep downloading things I hope to get the chance to read... my backlog's [--- THIS ---] big!
Still, gonna download this! Thanks! :P
one thing that's cool is that THE GOOD torrents often do have seeders for years... if our computers die and i don't have internet until 2015, i have some confidence that i could rebuild a collection with some of my favorites, and partially due to my own torrenting efforts.
