Thank you very much! 8-D
This is Australia's Network Ten covering the Olympics. Unfortunately, the newscasters could not follow what was going on and got horribly out-of-sync between their script and the actual performances--in some cases, they would read from the script 5 mins before the actual events would occur. They also would ad-lib and make up stuff (for example, they said Alexey Leonov was the last living cosmonaut--if that was true, who is up in the International Space Station right now and not 5 mins before, they had just introduced Valentina Tereshkova as a former cosmonaut!) I'd go with the version with BBC commentary. BBC did a much better job and had English translators during the Russian speeches (Network Ten forgot the translators).
I believe it is from channel one new zealand, judging from the thick Auckland accent. Internet speed was bad in New Zealand.
They are Australian, NOT New Zealanders. Our internet is fine thanks (my connection is 50 Mb/10 Mb/sec). I've been to USA and Europe and used many internet connections in hotels and at people's homes. Sorry, but it wasn't any better.
OK, so I haven't watched this yet but a few comments:
1) There is no such thing as an "Auckland accent"- NZers have the same accent with the exception of the deep southerners whom roll their 'r's like Irish or Scotsmen or the like.
2) To any (northern hemisphere) skiers reading this: do not ski in our North Island (Ruapehu). It sucks. Go to the South Island. [I met a Slav who was told how awesome the North Island was for skiing and, with aghast on my face told her that she should either not ski here or go to the Queenstown slopes.] Nope I do hate the South Island but the skiing is way better. Yup, research it and swim through the advertising.
Yup, after watching, the commentators are Australian (Not New Zealanders, as the 'TV One' logo in the corner might suggest).
